Second Reunion of the Carlesso family, in Boqueirão do Leão, Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil
The Second Reunion of the Carlesso Family, descendants of Luigi Carlesso and Bernardina Orso, was held on 10 November 2013 in Boqueirão do Leão.
The day began at 8.30 am with a welcome for the participants. At 9 am came the Mass of Thanksgiving for the family, in the church of São João Batista in Boqueirão do Leão. Led by Father Marcelo Carlesso, the Mass honoured family ties and spoke of the importance of discovering the roots that unite us. On the occasion, a framed spoon was presented, received from Italy and once belonging to the Carlesso family there.
After the Mass and the group photograph, participants were welcomed into the community hall for a time together. The documentary "Su i Monti: Italian immigration in the upper Taquari Valley" was shown.
Lunch and dancing followed on that special day. Family members also had the chance to update the family tree and to buy the new family shirt, a replica of the family spoon, stickers, DVDs and other family keepsakes. Many relatives who had not taken part in the first reunion were there too.
